Meet Our Team

Annet Eijkelkamp
Chair & Co-Founder
With over 20 years of experience in social impact, healthcare, and community development, Annet brings together strategic insight and genuine compassion.
After many years in corporate leadership roles, she made a conscious decision to dedicate her time, experience, and energy to supporting grassroots organizations and initiatives that improve the lives of vulnerable older adults. Through BAPU Foundation, she works alongside trusted partners to help create caring environments where people can age with security, support and a sense of belonging.
Much of who she is today is rooted in the upbringing her parents gave her. Much of what she knows comes from the values, lessons, and perspective they shared throughout her life. Their love, guidance, and example continue to inspire both her personal life and professional journey.
Annet believes that every person deserves to age with connection, purpose and dignity. She is particularly passionate about bringing generations together and creating communities where older and younger people can learn from one another, build meaningful relationships, and thrive together.
For Annet, lasting change begins with human connection, compassion, and a shared responsibility to care for one another.

Bapu
Co-Founder & Honorary Trustee
Affectionately known as Bapu, Surendra Patel is the heart and inspiration of the BAPU Foundation.
His life’s journey — from humble beginnings in Uganda and Kenya to rebuilding from scratch in the United Kingdom — reflects extraordinary resilience and purpose.
Together with his late wife, Pushpa, he nurtured a family and community built on love, dignity, and generosity.
Today, his story reminds us that aging is not about decline, but about legacy — and that compassion, when unconditional, can transform lives.
Bapu continues to champion our mission across the globe — actively guiding, selecting, and participating in our initiatives, and inspiring everyone he meets.
