Our Approach

HOW WE WORK

At the BAPU Foundation, we partner with trusted organisations that share our commitment to improving care, strengthening support systems, and enhancing quality of life for vulnerable and often overlooked older adults.

Guided by clear criteria and shared values, we prioritise work that responds to genuine needs and helps ensure that older adults at risk of being overlooked receive the care, connection and respect they deserve.

Our Ageing with Dignity Framework

We believe ageing well is about more than meeting basic needs. It is about creating the conditions for older adults to feel safe, supported, connected, valued and able to live with purpose.

Our Ageing with Dignity Framework© helps us consider the whole experience of ageing — from wellbeing and compassionate care to social connection, purpose and dignity. The five dimensions are closely connected and should not be viewed in isolation. Together, they guide how we understand needs, assess potential partnerships and consider the difference the work we support can make.

From Framework to Focus

The Ageing with Dignity Framework describes the experience and outcomes we want to strengthen. Our Strategic Focus Areas translate that ambition into the areas in which we direct our funding, partnerships and learning.

Together, they help us connect the needs of older adults with practical opportunities for support — while ensuring that every partnership remains grounded in dignity and the realities of the local community.

Working Through Partnership

Our support is developed in collaboration with organisations that bring local knowledge, trusted relationships and practical experience.

Depending on the needs identified, we may support existing work, help strengthen or shape an initiative together with a partner, or contribute to the development of a new approach.

The nature of each partnership may differ depending on the needs being addressed, the local context and the resources available. This may involve supporting essential care, strengthening existing programmes, encouraging greater inclusion and connection, or contributing to research and shared learning.

What remains consistent is our commitment to focused, responsible and partner-led support.
