WHERE WE INVEST

Investing Where It Matters Most: Our Strategic Focus Areas

BAPU Foundation invests in five strategic areas that guide our funding priorities and partnerships. Together, they translate our Ageing with Dignity Framework into action — directing where we focus our resources and how we work with partners to support meaningful, lasting change in the lives of vulnerable and often overlooked older adults.

Each focus area brings one or more dimensions of our framework into practice, while Research, Learning & Innovation strengthens them all.

Our Focus Areas

Safe Housing, Health & Care

Framework: Wellbeing, Care & Security

We work alongside organisations that provide secure, dignified housing and comprehensive care for older adults in need. This may include stable shelter, nutrition, access to healthcare, mobility support, emergency assistance, accessible transport and support for caregivers — helping older adults experience greater safety, wellbeing and dignity.

Social Inclusion & Belonging

Framework: Social Inclusion & Belonging, Purpose

We support partner-led programmes that reduce isolation and foster meaningful connections. These may include community activities, intergenerational exchanges, mentoring and volunteering — creating opportunities for older adults to participate, contribute and experience a stronger sense of belonging and purpose.

Cognitive Wellbeing & Technology

Framework: Purpose, Social Inclusion & Belonging

We invest in partner-led programmes that strengthen cognitive wellbeing, digital inclusion and social connection. These may include memory-support activities, lifelong learning, digital literacy and the thoughtful use of technology to improve care, participation and connection.

Awareness & Advocacy

Framework: Dignity

We support initiatives that raise awareness, inform public understanding and contribute to constructive dialogue around ageing and the experiences of older adults. Through education, collaboration and community-led advocacy, we help strengthen recognition of their needs, rights, voices and contributions.

Research, Learning & Innovation

Framework: All five dimensions

We believe meaningful progress is built on evidence, shared learning and innovation. Through research, knowledge sharing and collaboration, we explore approaches that can strengthen the wellbeing, care and security, social inclusion and belonging, purpose and dignity. By bringing together evidence and the experience of partners, communities and older adults themselves, we support continuous improvement and more effective practice.
